NEW DUE DATE

Due to the systems outage today, the new deadline for your anthology is this Friday, February 24th.

In addition to the 7 annotated poems below, please be sure to also have the creative cover page, minimum 2 paragraph introduction and minimum 2 pages reflection ready to turn in on Friday. All of this must be typed.

You will present only one poem from the anthology on Friday. Remember that the anthology is a huge grade (140) points because we have worked for quite a long time on this unit. Do yo...

Poetry anthologies due Wednesday

Please work hard this weekend because we only have one more day in the library to type/design covers. Many of you said you were working to catch up this weekend. Good!
   
Anthologies should be in the following order:
1. Creative cover with graphics, title, and your name
2. Introduction about you and what life experiences inspired or influenced the poems (minimum 2 paragraphs)
3. 7 typed and annotated poems
4. Reflection (minimum 2 pages)

POETRY ANTHOLOGY DUE NEXT WEDNESDAY 2-22

In addition to the cover page, introduction, and 2 page reflection, you must have at least 7 original, annotated poems that follow the guidelines below:
Poem types/qualities:

1.       Poem about poetry styled like Naruda’s “Poetry”

-free verse, repetition, strong verbs

 

2.       Coming-of-age poem like Giovanni’s “Nikki Rosa” and Lauryn Hill’s “Every Ghetto Every City”

-free verse, imagery, diction (specific to YOUR childhood places, games, etc.)

Throughout the poetry unit, you should continue to revise your poems to be sure they include all of the required elements we discuss in class. Please be sure to annotate your poems as I've shown you in class.

If you did not finish the pronouns packet last week, please have it ready for class tomorrow.
