We have another song to help you learn the list of 23 helping verbs that can appear BEFORE the main verb(s) in sentences. Please work on mastering the list because you will be required to underline those as part of the verb phrase as we go through the 4 steps of sentence deconstruction.

The four steps include:
1. Are there any infinitives? Put them in parentheses.
2. Are there any prepositional phrases? Put a line through them.
3. What is the verb? Does it have any helpers? Underline the entire verb phrase twice.
4. What is the subject? (You can find this by asking who? or what? about the verb). Underline the subject once.

Remember to always deconstruct sentences IN THIS ORDER because complex and compound sentences may not have the subject at he beginning of the sentence.

Your helping verbs sheets are due on Thursday, and we will spend class time on Thursday and Friday working with these and reading and discussing TKAM.
