While the literature logs require analysis and focus, I believe that work has truly moved many of you to the next level of thinking about characters, motivations, literary techniques, and, most importantly, what you value in life. For the final literature logs, you must analyze quotes from chapters 21, 22, and 23; however, for chapters 24-31, you only have to analze quotes from 5 out of 8 quotes from chapters 24-21. You can pick which chapters to do.

If you did not turn in the similes and metaphors from your assigned chapter, you MUST still do this and turn it in tomorrow.
Tonight's homework includes reading, chapter questions, and literature log for chapter 23.
You will also find one simile and one metaphor from any of your favorite songs. I will collect these tomorrow.
As I indicated today in class, you will finish the novel before next Friday, December 16th. Chapter questions and alternate assignments are due on Monday, December 19th. ...

Classtime and homework centered around similes and metaphors. Both compare UNLIKE things. Be prepared in class today with your assigned pages' similes and metaphors and the practice sheet from class.
Just like in the video clips, so much of our music uses figurative language. Tonight you will find more similes, metaphors, and alliteration in your favorite songs.

Helping verbs to the tune of Jingle Bells! Your helping verbs practice sheets are due on Thursday, and your TKAM literature logs and chapter questions (or alternate assignment) for chapters 10-20 are due on Friday.
Over the weekend you will use a textual support webbing sheet to formulate opinions about a character in the courtroom and write a "Who I Am" poem from that character's point of view. This is a great opportunity to let your creativity shine, so do your best and enjoy the assignment...
