Throughout the poetry unit, you should continue to revise your poems to be sure they include all of the required elements we discuss in class. Please be sure to annotate your poems as I've shown you in class.

Today we began the poetry unit by closely reading the unit overview, final assessment, and rubric. Students decided the following terms are necessary to learn in order to succeed on the assessment:

Classtime and homework centered around similes and metaphors. Both compare UNLIKE things. Be prepared in class today with your assigned pages' similes and metaphors and the practice sheet from class.

Just like in the video clips, so much of our music uses figurative language. Tonight you will find more similes, metaphors, and alliteration in your favorite songs.

I did not assign amy reading this weekend so that you can improve your short stories. Remember that for the grammar errors, you must follow the step-by-step correction process to learn and earn points.
